1. Never allow yourself to complain about anything – not even the weather.
Not the lack of money. Not the co-worker who drives you crazy. Not the person who’s gossiping. Not the decision that you would have made differently. Not the busyness of your calendar. Nothing … nothing at all.
2. Never picture yourself in any other circumstances or someplace else.
Remember that the grass isn’t always greener someplace else. Maybe we need to water our own lawn. And until God releases us from our current calling, we need to fully commit to the ministry He’s called us to.
3. Never compare your lot with another’s.
Leave thoughts like these behind:
If only I could have that other role… then things would be easier/better/more fulling/more enjoyable. Those thoughts are sure-fired ways to grow in discontent.
4. Never allow yourself to wish this or that had been otherwise.
We can live in “if only” and be haunted by things that we cannot change, or we can trust the past to God knowing that He will work all things for good for those who love Christ.
5. Never dwell on tomorrow- remember that tomorrow is God’s, not ours.
Obviously, we need to dream big and plan for tomorrow, but we cannot let those dreams be choked by worry. We believe that God holds our tomorrow, but sometimes it is so hard to pry our fingers off of them and let Him carry them.
